guitars and sound holes

Guitar playing is both a past time and a profession to many. Family gathering are made more fun with family members singing together, accompanied by an acoustic guitar, filling the home with music and memories. Some people also enjoy spending time reminiscing songs of old using acoustic guitars. Songs like the 60’s and 70’s. But do you know that with no sound hole, the electric or acoustic guitar is unable to self-amplify the sound produced by the vibration of the strings? This is why guitars have sound holes. Other than the sound hole there are things they call pickups, like the lr baggs m80 at guitar center , which some musicians find helpful to capture their instruments' character. I can only imagine the sound a guitar makes using a pickup. I bet it is awesome. I am one of many people who does not know how to, yet wanted to learn, to play the guitar when I was younger. I have given up on that hope a long time ago but it does not mean I do not look at an acoustic guitar with longing when I see one. It is just that some things are not meant to be.
