I bought a purse. It was on sale and I bought it for a third of the original price. Using a coupon and my store card, I got the purse really cheap. It is a style I already have in a different color. The old one is white while the new one is sunny yellow. I would have opted for cognac or red but none of those colors are available and I really like the design so I went ahead and ordered the yellow bag. It is not bad. I have actually expected the worse but I was wrong. I love the color! And I already love the other bag so win-win. The husband who got the mail was the one who opened the package wondering what the heck I am up to this time, lol. He saw the bag and he said it looks good. He knows I am crazy over purses, shoes, and jeans so he does not get shocked when I get a package in the mail. He has to look first though. I think he worries I will break him financially and I don't blame him. Sometimes he is apprised before I buy anything but there are times he is informed after the fact. Hence the curiosity. I like it that he never complains though. He just says go ahead. But then he knows that I will never buy anything beyond our means and rarely at full price (unless it is something I really like and know will not go on sale anytime soon). I still have another package coming and this one is a bit pricey but has his stamp of approval. In fact, he wanted me to buy the kind that cost thrice the one I just purchased but I said no. That item will have to wait for a while :)

rags to riches
Contribution by Stevie Kirby.
I was watching direct tv and while I was flipping through the channels, I saw a movie that I loved when I was about sixteen. I caught myself watching “The Princess Diaries” until midnight when I should have been sleeping. Anne Hathaway doesn’t look much different. She looked mature in her late teens and looks just about the same today. Rags to riches stories usually put me in a good mood. I think it is because when we see a rags to riches story we can imagine how wonderful it would be to be in the undiscovered princess’ shoes. Suddenly, you are entitled to a life of leisure, luxury, and posh couture. I think that being able to imagine yourself in the same situation is the allure of the Kate Middletonstory. I read on one of the many celebrity trash websites that I follow that Anne Hathaway is being considered for the role of Kate Middleton in a major motion picture production of Will and Kate’s romance. Imagine that—Anne has the experience, she’s already played the part!
next step
Now that the pictures that we recovered are well and truly protected from disappearing (I did mention on my previous post that I made several back-ups), the husband said it is time to start printing them. We are talking about hundreds of pictures here and he said I need to choose the ones I like (I like all of them!) to print so we will have copies of them to save in albums. It is hard to choose from pictures that I already hand-picked from years before. Of course everything is worthy to be printed, in my opinion. But he said not all can be printed or it will break us. Ink is not cheap nor is it cheap to have the pictures printed elsewhere. So my next task will be to make sure I have the best pictures to be printed and print them we will. If I can find coupons or deals online from Snapfish or anywhere else that print photos I might avail of that too. Whatever will help us save money. I bet after the printing is done I will be tasked to buy picture frames, lol. He does love to display the kids' pictures and I don't blame him. We do have good looking kids :)
things to buy
It is no secret to the husband that I want to buy new bedding and covers for our bed. I want a quilted set this time but he said I cannot buy anything until after we move to our own house. Since the house in question is still under ongoing repairs (or renovations if you like) it will be a while before I can buy anything. Which is not good since I do want to do the buying now. Does that make sense? Lol. Before he only heard about quilt sets but now he has more things to think about since I found peacock alley bedding to add to the store brands that I like. I wonder when he will realize that there will be more options the longer this drags. Perhaps I need to tell him? I do hope we get to move to the new place soon so I will not only get to buy stuff for the house, I also will get the peace and quite knowing I can do whatever in my own house.

motor home
We passed a motor home for sale one day and I made the husband stop so I can look at it. Not that we have the money to buy it, I just wanted to look at it and see what was inside. I have been curious as to what I will see. So he stopped and I got out and looked. It was pretty neat inside. I have been having thoughts about what if we can afford to buy a motor home will I agree if the husband buys one? I know I am silly, lol. But it never hurts to think about it does it? I was shocked at the price though and when I got on the car and told the husband about my thoughts he laughed. He said not only is owning a motor home way out of our league, motor home repair is too. So there goes my daydreaming about the family owning a motor home, lol. It is pretty to look at though which is good because that is the only option for me :)
recovered
Our desktop computer crashed three years ago. The culprit? The husband's older son who, like any other teenager, was in websites he was not supposed to. The husband was able to make it work for a while but then it crashed again and he got tired of messing with it so he let it sit in a box until he was ready to deal with it again. He then bought us laptops with a rule that nobody is allowed to use anybody's laptop to avoid incidents like that happening again. I was all for it. I know for a fact that the sites I frequent are safe (with the exceptions of a couple but it is not really bad especially with a virus protection). And that had been the case since then. We kept the old computer because I saved a lot of pictures in it, pictures of the little man that I did not save in a CD. Pictures that the husband said we will have to recover because he wants copies of it printed for an album we need to keep for the little man so when he grows up and moves out, we will have pictures to give him and to keep for ourselves.
A few days ago, I had the notion to turn on the old computer. Since I forgot how it works, the husband helped me. Between the two of us, we had the computer up and running without any problems. It was really a surprise considering we were thinking the worst about it. It did crash because of a virus, but for some reason it was not evident this time. We did not encounter any problems at all. The computer did not shut down like it used to and so I was able to recover all the pictures that was in it. The DVD drive was tore up because of the little man but it was not a problem since I was able to transfer the pictures using our touchpads. I made sure I had copies and a back-up for the pictures so I loaded them in two touchpads and two laptops after which I made DVD copies of it as well. How is that for making up? Lol. Now all we need to do is buy more ink (we already have photo paper) so I can start printing pictures. The old desktop is up and running again and we have let the little man use it for his games. He can crash it anytime he wants, we don't care because we already have what we want from it :)
double stroller
The little man is old enough to walk but when I bring him to walk in the park he usually complains about being tired after we complete one round in the ball field. He sits in a bench and will not budge until I threaten to leave him which I admit is bad of me. But I cannot leave him sitting in a bench while I do more rounds because I don't trust him to stay still. Besides, there are other people in the park and I don't trust them either. If you have a kid I am sure you understand what I feel. Since I do like to walk and bring him with me, the husband and I have been thinking about buying a double stroller. One of the relatives has a Bob stroller, a double stroller in fact, and offered it to us but we have to pick it up and she is in another state. So we might just buy one near if we can find it cheap. This way when I go walk with the kids, the little man will have options whether to walk with me or sit in the stroller. Problem is, it is hard to find one. But I am not losing hope. I know one will pop up somewhere when I least expect it.
roaming charges
When we moved to our current address, our phone numbers automatically were in roaming. They still are. And if you know the charges that are associated with roaming phone calls then you also know that it is not only an inconvenience but costly as well. We did not think about our phones when we decided to move here, only that the cost of living is way cheaper than where we used to live. It is cheaper but not by much when you think about all other expenses such as roaming charges (although we have been trying to have that cut off) and gas expenses. Plus we realized that food prices are actually higher here with less sales and discounts unlike the previous place. The rent is way cheaper though which makes up for all the other expenses. Back to the phones, when we first received our phone bill here the husband was shocked with the charges. It was four times what we normally pay and that was for his phone only. Mine was just basic charge since I don't talk to anybody but him and his sister occasionally. He called his daughter who told him to use a home cell booster but when he called customer service was told that the booster they sell is only for customers who do not get signal at all while in their homes. He was told that we do not need it since we do have a connection albeit in roaming. After months of paying an enormous amount of money he received a letter stating that his phone will be canceled so he decided to buy a prepaid phone with unlimited capabilities at a fixed rate and he has been happy using it since then. The phone that was supposed to be canceled by the provider is still working and we are still paying monthly charges for it and use it but not to an excess like we used to. We figured that our provider did not cut that phone's service because it means waiving the cancellation fee since they will be the one turning off the service. I guess they will wait for us to cancel our subscription but it is not going to happen because we are not going to give them that satisfaction. Besides, we will be moving soon (we think) where we will not be on roaming and we decided to keep the phone because it is very cheap compared to other plans from other providers. We just need to be on regular towers so everybody will be happy.

jobs
It is hard to find a job in today's economy. A lot of people are venturing into the medical field because it is where the jobs are at and the pay is decent. Some are getting jobs as nurse assistants while others look at Occupational Health & Safety Technician Jobs. I have relatives who are nurses in the US and I have not heard any complains about money and I take that as a sign that they are paid good. They deserve it though for they are hardworking women. I am hoping, along with everybody else, that this economy will turn around so there will be jobs everywhere with good pay and better benefits.
