And I don't mean spiders. I am talking about ticks. I hate them. They make summer not so fun because they are everywhere. It wouldn't have been so bad if they just cause bumps and a little itch. But no, they have to cause lyme disease which is awful. They bite, they burrow under the skin, and they are just a pure menace. The other day while we were visiting cemeteries to try to find graves of the husband's ancestors, the husband reminded me to keep an eye out for ticks. It made me want to stay in the car no matter how hot it was. We actually found several in his person, crawling and trying to find the perfect spot to latch on to. It made me wash the clothes we wore that day including the sheets and covers for added measure. If I could, I would have washed the couch and the carpet. I know it is not going to stop the ticks from crawling (if we have brought some in the house) but it makes me feel better knowing that somehow I have cleaned up a bit. I wonder if there is a spray one can use to repel ticks? I will be the first to buy a bottle (provided it works) to keep me and my family safe.

acne treatment
When I checked on his scalp, the husband has bumps on it that we think are caused by acne. Not only that, his back has a few bumps too which he says are sensitive to the touch. He said it is acne. How does he know? Because he has had this on and off for years. He even had to take medications at one time because it got so bad on his face. Now acne is growing in his scalp and back. We think he needs back acne treatment but we wonder if this kind works for his scalp too? I am not very sure if he should use anything on his scalp for fear of hair falling but he will have to make a call on that. The back is safe enough to rub something on it should he decide to go the cream or liquid solution route. We do hope the acne will go away without medication. I think we are both too old to have acne but we somehow get it every now and then. I wonder if stress has something to do with it?
it was fun
We did attend the party I was talking about on my previous post. We all had a good time, especially the little man who found new friends. There were plenty of food that everybody enjoyed. I enjoyed eating the skin of the roasted pig even if it was not very crunchy anymore because we did not get there early. Even the husband liked the food that were served. Of course, there were friends, old and new that we get to talk to. There was also a game of bingo which everybody joined in. It was a fun afternoon even if it did storm on us. The men talked about varied topics from politics to just about anything including even charlotte jobs for the benefit of one of the couples there. And the best part, before we went home I filled a gallon bag with leftover food to the husband's embarrassment, lol. I hope there will be more of these parties this Summer we can attend. Maybe when we are ready we will host our own little party here at home. I might need help with the preparations but as long as everybody enjoys I think it will be worth it. To borrow the little man's words, it is nice to be around other people.

a birthday party
We are going to a birthday party this weekend. A friend is celebrating his birthday and him and his Filipina wife ordered roasted pig (lechon baboy) then invited all the fil-am couple they know. Naturally, we will be attending. I will not let the opportunity to eat lechon pass, no sir. I think the husband wants to see a whole roasted pig (hopefully we will get there before somebody chops it up) so he said we will attend. Besides, he knows I really want to go and he does not want me to miss the event since he knows that some common friends will be there too. I am looking forward to a weekend of food, friends, and fun. Hopefully the weather will cooperate.
junk mails
Just opened my emails and as usual it is full of junk. I don't know what I did or where I have used my email addresses but my inbox get flooded with emails about disability insurance, diet pills, credit card offers, and such. I clean my inbox everyday to weed out the legitimate emails from the spam. I sometimes hope that one of these emails claiming me to be somebody's heiress is true. I so need the money, lol. But as it is, I live in the real world and if something sounds too good to be true it usually is. The email(s) then goes straight to my trash bin. And now I am off to do some household chores.

it is time
I got notice from the mail to renew our car insurance. It is time to pay 6 months worth of insurance again. That means big bucks going out the window, or to the insurance company. It is a law to have car insurance and it does protect us in a way so we have to pay it. The mail contained a lot of offers too along with the notice. Like a free rv insurance quote in case we have an RV. The husband would like to have one but he cannot afford it so we do not need that service. We were even offered (on a separate mail) benefits if we open a savings account just in case we have lots of money lying around the house, lol. No luck with that, either. We wish we do but it has not happened yet. Anyway, I will have to write a check for the amount we need to pay for the insurance so it will be out of the way.

a baby bed
We bought a second hand baby bed for the little girl. I really wanted a brand new one and was getting ready to go to the store when one of my sisters-in-law called telling us about this good deal her daughter found. I was skeptical at first but I told the husband to call it which he did and so he told his sister to buy the bed for us. It came with a changing table. I did not know what to expect but he told me should I not like the bed we will sell it on craigslist then buy the little girl a new bed. Well, I liked the baby bed when I saw it. It was in pretty good shape and I am happy that the husband decided to get both. It is cheaper than we would have paid for it brand new and it even came with an expensive mattress. If we bought a bed, mattress, and a changing table it would have cost us more or less $200 and that will be the cheapest estimates too. The little girl has been using her bed for days now. She loves it and I can leave her in it when I have to do important stuff around the house and she does not fuss about it. The changing table could have come with casters though to make it easier for me to move it but then I think I got a pretty good deal so there is no sense in griping about a lack of something trivial. We were able to save money and we got a bed for our little girl. No more sleeping on a cradle for her especially when she is already very mobile. The bed is good for her and for us :)

no online games tonight
We went out to buy milk today because the little man is almost out. He was agreeable when we got in the car but when we got out of the driveway he was not happy. He told his father to turn the car around because he wanted to stay home. He continued doing it until I told him if he is good I will buy him french fries and tea. That did the trick. But the real reason he did not want to go was that I promised to let him use my laptop so he can play games when we get home. He was so sleepy though that he might have thought there was no way he will be able to play online games if he falls asleep in his carseat which happens all the time once we get on the road. And when he is out, he is really out. He is sleeping soundly right now in his bed and as it is, no online game for him. The poor thing, and he was so good today. Well, maybe tomorrow I will let him get in the computer early because it has been two days since he was able to get online. I surely will not wake him up since he is sound asleep. And since the little girl is already asleep as well, the husband and I have time to get online before we get ready for bed. He is currently reading the news about the supposed death of Osama bin Laden while I am here reading about conjugated linoleic acid (cla) while talking to a couple of online friends. I might go to bed early though because I have been sleeping late at night and it is taking a toll on me. Maybe after I check my Facebook page. I have to know what my friends are doing :)
