sounds like a plan

The days have been stressful for me and the husband due to his older son. The kid has marital problems due to a teenage marriage and instead of working on getting things settled he has been making a mess which his father has been trying to clean up for him. It is making the holidays a bit strained for us. And the worst part is that he never listens. Well, he pretends he does and then turns around and does the opposite of whatever advice is given to him. We are seriously thinking of moving as far away as possible. His mother promised him she will help anyway and it is about time she delivers. The husband and I have been planning for our get away plan, lol. He said we could buy us an RV, make sure it has sufficient rv insurance and live like nomads which means we will not stay in one place for long so nobody will be able to trace us. I know it sounds bad to some people but you are not on our shoes. This has been going on for over a year and we have been trying our best to help but the kid does not even attempt to help himself. He thinks he knows everything which only leads to more complications. He hates and takes advice as an insult since, well, he is smart and he knows what he is doing. Or so he thinks. I believe that one can only help a person if that person accepts that help. If not then it will be his problem anymore. Don't you agree?

a year older

My birthday came and went without me making so much of a fuss about it. I had a relaxing day at the beach with my family. We went to Myrtle Beach and stayed the night there in an ocean front room. It was kinda cold but we still had a good time. Or I did. Especially when the husband told me I can go shopping and buy what I want. Of course I did not get any except for a new pair of shoes. I had every intention of buying whatever I like but the prices on clothes and purses were outrageous even with the supposed discount so I passed on those. Even the ankle boots that I like I did not buy. I opted for a very cheap, discounted shoes which I really like. I had fun window shopping though. That is one past time I will not get tired of, lol. I had all the time and nobody complained how long I stayed in a store. On our way home I was even asked if I wanted to stop by my favorite lingerie shop but I declined. I don't want to rack up my credit card anymore than I have to. I will wait for another occasion to splurge on something like that. Anyway, so I am a year older. But I don't think I am wiser, lol. Thank you for the friends who greeted me on my special day.

shopping and expenses

We went shopping for gifts for the little kids today. Boy, everything is expensive anymore. I used to always think of possible toys I will get the little man the next time there is a special occasion but the prices make me gag. I mean, twenty dollars for a piece of colored plastic? Whatever happened to affordable, practical toys? While walking around the toy section I was thinking about how much we should spend so we will not get broke for the New Year after paying the bills. I swear, for the first time, I did not enjoy looking at toys. All I saw was dollar signs everywhere that I thought if I apply for any jobs in finance I probably will get hired without the basic academic background. Being the person who controls the finances at home is enough credential, lol. I had a very bad headache by the time we got back to the car. Now we are all set. I hope the toys will be appreciated by the kiddos. Now all I have to do is convince the husband that the next time there is a special occasion we will just give money to the kids' parents to be deposited to the little ones' accounts. That way it will be there should they need it for something important.

our tree is up!

We decided to put up our tree after all. For days I thought the husband is fixed on spending Christmas on an ocean front room in a resort but this morning he changed his mind hence the tree is up. We only have a few decorations because the little man broke most last year but the tree still looks beautiful. I plan on buying more decorations when the weather clears up. I hate to go anywhere with the little man when it is sprinkling. I sure would not want him to get sick. This time I will buy plastic decorations so it will be more practical and safe. His father gave him one candy cane to put on the holiday tree as he calls it but he kept on taking the cane off after putting it in one area for a while. Like his parents he could not make up his mind either, lol. He loves our tree though and I am sure he will love the presents which will be under the tree in a few days. I am afraid to put the presents yet because he yells about his toys and his presents all the time. I may take pictures when we have all the decorations up.

so dry

My nose and throat have been dry lately and when I told the husband about it he said it has something to do with the electric heat. And I thought that we need to run to the store to buy furnace filters. It only goes to show I know nothing, lol. It is hard to breath sometimes because it is so dry that it feels like it burns. I am afraid I will have nosebleeds again like what always happens when my nose is irritated. The husband said we either have to use our old humidifier or hunt for the Vicks humidifier I bought months ago and use it during bedtime. I vote for the latter. It is easier and safer that way considering the little man is curious and he might drop his toys on the old humidifier. At least at night we will be in bed and he will hopefully leave the humidifier alone. We will only use water in it and see if it will do wonders. If not then we will not have a choice but use the big humidifier but we have to put it somewhere safe.

redirect

For the first time in days, I did my share of entrecard drops and visiting blogs. I have been lazy lately. When I am left with nothing else to do I surf on online stores instead of visiting blogs. Tonight was different since the little man went to bed early and the husband was on the phone most of the time and I have been to every online store I can think of. So, I opened EC and started visiting blogs and that is what I have been doing in the past four hours. Wonder why it took this long? Because I have several blogs in Entrecard and I had to cook more dishes and tend to my Cafe at Cafe World. I had to multi-task. I don't want my customers going home hungry. I did pretty good considering my self-made distractions. I did notice something odd about a few blogs though. These blogs redirect to a blank page and acted like it is loading but after minutes of waiting nothing happened. The pattern was the same and frankly, after trying several times I gave up. I skipped the blogs I knew were not loading right and if it was your blog I am so sorry but I cannot stay up all night to wait for your blog to load. I personally do not know what is wrong but I hope you can fix the problem. Next time I will do my drops I will try your site again and hopefully it will be working fine.

the right choice

We are definitely moving out from the duplex after tax season. Where to no one knows yet. Not even us, lol. We have been talking about the pros and cons of living in certain cities and we will narrow down the list as we go along. No, honolulu is not on the list. It probably would be awesome to live in the tropics again but I am afraid of the volcanoes that littered the islands of Hawaii. We are thinking about moving back to the state we lived in before we moved down South but we also like the idea of living in the state where we got married. And then there is always the pull of the South with the beach and the food. It is a pretty tough decision to make. Hopefully we will make the right choice.

annual check

I just had my annual check-up today. So far, the doctor seemed to be happy with what she saw. I hate check-ups but it is something I have to go through. It only gets better when the people who assists me are nice which was the case on today's visit. Everybody wished me a happy holidays which I took as a good sign and they said about seeing me again after a year. Probably not if we move to another place. But I am glad that it was over.

noise and clutter

We have been coped up in the house only a few hours and the little man is already starting to get bored. He has toys everywhere, one laptop is turned on to his favorite website, the television is showing his favorite nursery rhymes. I am starting to have a headache just listening to all the sounds and looking at the toys. The husband is being smart staying on our room out of harm's way, lol. This little dynamo here is very imaginative but could be destructive so we have to be careful. The other day he found balls and pretended the center and end tables were ping pong tables and proceeded playing like a pro. Well, in his mind anyway. I can take care of the clean up but the mess and the noise drives me crazy sometimes. Especially since the day just started. I sometimes wonder how I keep my sanity, lol. I better turn off some of this noise making contraptions they call electronics and maybe it will get quite enough I can read a book.

i love it

We looked at a house yesterday. No, we do not have the money to buy one. Yes, we love it. How bad is that? Lol. We found it online and decided to take a look. I told the husband it was as if the house was built with us in mind. It is an older house yet it still look good. Plenty of windows which is what I like. It has a patio which the husband prefers. It has plenty of room, high ceiling, a garage with smooth garage floor perfect for storage and an attic. And the yard may not be as big as our old house but it is decent enough for privacy purposes. I am hoping for a miracle. That maybe we can come up with the money to buy the house. I have never liked and feel attached to a house like that in my life. It was like coming home. I have been good this year, perhaps Santa will give me a very nice present.

festival of lights

We might go to the Festival of Lights this weekend. We make it like a tradition to go every year since we moved down South. The festival takes place in a park. The park is illuminated with nothing else but Christmas lights shaped into different things which results to an awesome sight. Plenty of people go together with their family to witness the beautiful sight. If it is not too cold we might go. The little man has the sniffles so we cannot go if it gets any colder than today. If nothing else we can just drive around the park instead of walking. It will be easier for everybody that way. Who knows I might even take pictures :)
