Pictured above is an $8 Rx eyeglasses. Yes, eight dollars. Do you know how much I paid for mine this year? Fifty dollars for a pair! The difference is too much. I could have bought more pairs had I followed my instinct and purchased it from Zenni. But fool that I am I was worried about a lot of things even after Jerlalou told me the pair she got was just perfect. So, my next pair will be from Zenni. I am building up money on my debit card so I can get two more pairs. If you have prescription eyeglasses and you are reading this post, I am telling you how you can start spending smart and that is buying eyeglasses that are affordable. Like this pair below which is only $19.
The eyeglasses below is what I am aiming to get though. Should be good during the day so I don't have to bring sunglasses with me when we go out. You know I could buy three of my favorite high fashion eyeglasses from Zenni and pay only a few dollars more than what I paid for one pair and that is what I am doing next time.

the right choice
another balikbayan box
Should be heading down to Leyte soon. The husband and I will go to the Filipino store later today to get a box so we can put all the stuff we bought in it. We still have plenty to buy which my parents requested such as the Victoria's Secret cologne they are crazy about and some shirts and maybe some canned goods for them to try. I have to rummage through the closets too get clothes which the little man will not use anymore. I don't have younger siblings or nephews but the neighbors or their friends might have kids who can use the clothes. Of course I have to put more stuff in there for the relatives but nothing grand or expensive. Maybe some soap and lotion. I am hoping the sales will kick in before we bring the box back to the store so I can buy more clothes for them. I don't know what the husband will put in the box this time. Last time he put tools in the box which I thought my father will not like but the opposite happened. He loved them! Well, I hope we will get things in order for September.

recycling
Two weeks ago I went to the Flea market for more books to read. I love to read on my free time and the husband indulges me so I get to buy new books then trade them with older ones from a guy who lets me swap books he sells at the Flea market. Who does not want new books? It is good for his business. When I am finished reading the books I got that is when I have to go back and swap some more. It saves me money in the long run because reading can be expensive especially if the library is far away and one buys books all the time. I still have a bag of books here I need to read. The little man plays with it and scans the pages for pictures which are nonexistent. It is a wonder he has not asked me why I like boring books, lol. He sure is interested in them. Maybe he will be like me when he grows up and will like to read too.

out of shape
Last weekend I mowed the backyard. The stepson was supposed to do it like he always does every other weekend but after promising his father he will be by our place on Saturday morning he did not show up. The husband was upset but we could not do anything about it so I told him I will do it. I have done it before so I know I can do it. The only problem was I could not make the lawn mower to start. I tried so hard but nothing happened so I had to yell for help. The husband held the handle bars while I yanked at the rope. It did start and so I mowed the yard in the middle of the day on a hot summer day. Halfway through I was soaking with sweat and I was about to pass out. I could not stop and risk the mower quitting since I knew I could not start it by myself. It was the longest task I have ever done and it was not fun at all like what I thought it would be. When I was finished I went inside the house and took my shirt off which horrified the husband, lol. I was so weak after that "little" exercise. It achieved my goal though and that was to sweat only it was too much. Next time I will do it early in the morning or late in the afternoon. I can handle the mosquitoes better than the heat.

ooppss!
I cut the husband's hair last night. It was the second time I did it so I had a bit of experience and it was not as stressful as the first time. I think I did a good job too. So I was happy about my accomplishment and my new found confidence in cutting his hair when I tripped on the extension wire we used for the clipper and it fell on the kitchen floor. I did not open my eyes right away afraid of what I might see. I knew something broke and I was right. The half inch attachment which was still in the clipper was broken. The husband was not happy. The whole set was just a few months old and even though it was not expensive he claims it is the best set he owns. I feel so guilty but it was not intentional. I have always been like this, clumsy. I could not tell you how many glasses and bowls and plates I broke when I was living with my parents that for a time we used plastic instead to avoid accident. I want to make it up for him but I don't know how. We may have to order attachments online and see if we can get just the half inch. Next time I will be more careful. Hopefully.

playing a game
The little man is using my computer right now playing Starfall's ABC game. He wants to play the game over and over after I showed him how to do it. It is nice knowing his hand is steady enough to click the mouse to navigate the page but his incessant screams of what happened to my game when he accidentally minimizes the page is annoying. He does not know where to find the icon yet but when I check how he is doing he has windows open with Yahoo finance or on deep pages sometimes about truck accessories and other things just by nonstop clicking. I am afraid he will click an ad that contains virus though because I don't want to deal with another infected computer yet. He is enjoying the phonics and sounds and words. I am torn between being happy I found a game he can enjoy and regretting I ever introduced the game to him. I am not comfortable with him spending time in front of the computer no matter how short it is. I may have to start weaning him off the computer before long. I don't want this to become a habit.

on pets
My stepkids had pets for a long time. Both had cats. And both lived with us (with their pets) at different times. I had to help them take care of their pets because they were not very good in that department. I had a dog when I was kid so it was easier. Besides the cats were house trained. There were a few times we had to buy cat supplies when we went to the store because the cat ran out of food or the litter box needs to be replaced. We did not have any problem with it because I'd rather replace the litter box than deal with the nasty smell. None of them have their pets anymore though. The stepdaughter gave her cat away when she gave birth and the stepson left his pet at his mother's place when he came to live with us the second time. The little man was a baby at the time and I did not want him to be near pets at the time. When he gets older I might consider getting him a dog since he likes them better than cats.

unforgettable trip
Our visit to Orlando last year was a blast. The husband and I loved it and we still talk about our experience like it just happened yesterday. We had a very good time that the husband thought we should move there but things did not happen according to plan. He got injured so there is no way we will be able to do that. Not until something will be done with his back and he feels better. Anyway, we talked that if we can't live in sunny Florida, we can always spend vacations there. We would love to visit Orlando again and this time go to Disney and if we have the money we might visit other places we did not on our first trip. With his penchant for fishing and my love for seafood, we might go to Destin. I have just heard of the place but when I read the tag "The World's Luckiest Fishing Village" I so want to go and see it. I am sure accommodations will not be a problem. There should be plenty of destin florida hotels since it is a popular tourist destination. I wonder if their part of the beach is as calm as Largo's. We will see when we get there someday. It might be a while before we can go back to Florida but that will be something to look forward to. By then the little man should be able to enjoy the trip as well as we do.

attacked
My old, reliable laptop acquired a virus. My first reaction was that of disbelief since I do have antivirus in place. And then came anger. Right now I am just plain frustrated. I don't know what to do. I snapped at the husband earlier like it was his fault when he was just trying to help. Reformat came to mind so I dug through our records and looked for the recovery CD but I could not find it. Either the computer did not come with a recovery disc or the husband and the stepson used it to reformat his computer a long time ago and they misplaced it like they always do. Whatever the case, I cannot reformat my conputer. I emailed customer support and hope that they will have answers to my questions tomorrow. Thankfully I do have a spare laptop which I did not use (I do now) because I am sharing the charger with the husband. His got fried when it got hit by lightning. We have to think of a course of action tomorrow whether to buy another charger for his laptop or try to save the old laptop by ordering a recovery CD for it. It will all depend on whether or not we will have money to spare. My major concern right now is what if it was a trojan virus and stole all our personal information? I am effed!

answer
A few days ago I posted a blurry photo and decided to have an impromptu contest to where anybody who will give the right answer (through a comment) will be given away $5. It was in a way to know if anybody ever reads my posts when people visited my blog. Well, I had my answer. Out of a number of people who visited who are mostly from entrecard, only one person did read my post and took the time to leave a comment. And she even had the right answer. I was a bit disappointed because whenever I visit other people's blog I always take time to read posts. The same could not be said of some of these people. Am I angry? Not really. I know they have their reasons for dropping and leaving right away. You would say I should have made a big deal about the contest then perhaps a few people might be interested. I could have had. But it would defeat the purpose I had when I made the decision. Anyway, like I said, I have my answer :) Maybe next time I will post the contest and promote it in advance.
