general cleaning

I cleaned up my blogroll yesterday. I visited links listed in it to make sure mine is also up in other people's sites. When I did not see my blog's name I immediately deleted their links which is only fair. It pisses me off that people leave messages in my shoutbox to ask if I can add their link here which I do when I have the time but guess what? My link is nowhere to be found in their blogs at all. I think I will be doing this every now and then to make sure nobody undeserving benefits from it. I am thankful for those who never took my links off their blogs even after a year now. Thank you guys! For those who asked to be added yet "forgot" to add my links in their blogs, shame on you.

PS
If for some reason I deleted your link here and you found out my link is up in your blog, kindly leave me a message and I will rectify that mistake.

what i have been up to

Since the husband got sick, I have been doing things I don't normally do like bringing the trash out or bringing groceries in. He used to be the pack mule but now I have to do it because he can't do anything else. It was hard at first, having to take care of the little man and then the husband, catering to their needs and then doing the household chores at the same time. It does not help that the little man has the sniffles which we don't know if caused by allergy or by a virus because he has had this for days now though thankfully he does not have fever. I am getting used to it though. I have worked out a routine which works perfectly well for us. I hope we will know what is causing the husband's pain so they can proceed with the right treatment soon enough. We are still waiting and just staying home all the time. I have not even been to the Flea market and I am dying to trade my books so I can have something to read when I am not busy. Yes, surprisingly, even if I have to keep up with my family's needs, I still find some alone time and instead of thinking (which only worries me) I read which prevents me from doing any thinking at all. My stint away from reality albeit for only a few minutes at a time. I hope this will all pass and then we will be back to normal again.

cannot follow instruction

When we bought the little man his play slide, the husband told me to put it up. It looked simple enough that I said yes. I did not even look at the manual. What for? There were only a few knobs and bolts and it was not as if I had to deal with tricky industrial knobs where I won't know which goes where. So I set out to do the task and when the husband saw the manual in the table unopened, he asked what was I doing. I smarted off and he shook his head. It turned out I left a knob off which was supposed to be used before anything else was. I told him that if he was going to mess with my work then he had to do it which he did and I was saved from further embarrassment. This particular incident happened a year ago but we still laugh when we remember how I made a mess of a simple task. After that incident, he told me to always use the manual whenever one is available because that is what it is for. A guide. Fine! Lol.

leak

While I was doing dishes last night (we don't have a dishwasher) I noticed that the faucet was leaking. It was not a normal trickle, more like flooding. The husband said it might have been the seal going bad. I thought this will be the perfect time to tell the landlord that we need a new sink. I don't like the old sink in this house. It stains when I pour tea in it. I want the stainless steel kind and not what we have which is concrete. Or I think it is concrete. Who am I to know? All I know is that I don't like it and pouring bleach over it every few days. She has not been around for a while now though or else I would have told her about this problem and that there are discount Kohler sinks she can get online to make me happy. I think she is afraid to mess with us much and lost her best renters ever. Hey, we pay on time and we seldom complain. She should be happy that even if we have had problems living in her property we just manage to fix it by ourselves because if we rely on her we will probably end up packing our things. Well, I am still hoping she will show up so we can tell her the problem. Calling her on the phone is a bit impersonal, I think.

cravings

I am craving for Filipino style spaghetti for days now. I have talked to my online friends asking them if they can help me with this dilemma. You see, Filipino style spaghetti uses sweet and sour sauce which is not available in the US unless one gets lucky and finds it in the Filipino store. I thought about using sugar but I am afraid it will end up nasty. I can't afford to throw food away just because it does not taste good. So I asked around and one of my friends said she has been using this sauce from California which she bought from the Asian store and that it tasted like the ones in the Philippines. The glitch is that she said she will not be going to the store soon but she promised she will get me some when she does. And hopefully, she will find Maggi spaghetti as well. I love Maggi's instant spaghetti, it is sweet and filling. Well, I hope I will get the sauce soon enough before this craving escalates. I have never liked the Italian spaghetti, it is too sour for my taste though my son loves it. It is all a matter of preference I guess.
