i will try to cook more

I know how to cook a little since I was the designated cook when I lived with my parents. Nothing fancy, just stir-fried vegetables and some grilling (one can never go wrong with that), a lot of frying, you know, simple stuff. When I got married and to somebody from another country with different food preference, I didn't know what I was getting into. And that was not an exaggeration. Sure, the husband tastes the food that I cooked but I can tell it is not meal material for him. I try to fix him food from time to time. Most of the time he fixes his own food, if not we go out to eat. But when you think about the expenses, it is not really a good idea. He taught me how to cook his favorite foods and I think I am doing pretty good but I know I need to do more. I need to offer him something different from time to time. I think a few casserole recipes will be good to start with. He loves meat and vegetables and as long as there is variety and he is eating the food he grew up eating, I am sure it will be a hit. As for me, I will continue cooking and eating the food I like to eat but I don't really limit myself. I eat his food too. Perhaps the little boy will like the food too. We all need to eat healthy.

I am there with you. Except that I am in the other side (Western food served more than Filipino food in our household.) I finally had a compromise. As long as I have my rice at least twice a week ... I'm ok eating whatever is served. With rice on the side :-).

The husband knows that this pinay will not survive without rice and so he buys me rice in bulk, or else there will be war lol..though he said i am stingy with it and won't share :)
